I've had some problems with Samsung TVs too

Bought my mom a Samsung ~24" LCD tv about 15 years ago, and it suffered from a failing capacitor problem inherent in that model.

My current 65" Sammy will lost the picture for several seconds, then pop back to life. If I disconnect the source (power down the cable box), then turn it back on, everything works fine. This is a problem I've had since it was new. Lets just say I'm going to look at several brands when it's time to replace it. (Sony is probably at the top of my list now.)
